What does a Fredo device actually do?

It physically presses a button for you — like your computer's power button — using a small motor. You control it from your phone, a schedule or an API.

Do I need to open my PC or change any wiring?

No. The device sits next to the button and presses it the same way your finger would.

Does it work without internet?

Yes, on your local network you can open the device's own app directly. Remote control from anywhere needs an internet connection.

What does "prototype" mean?

Is my device secure?

Each device has a unique pairing code, the local app is protected with your PIN, and the portal only accepts commands from your account.

Which WiFi networks are supported?

Standard 2.4 GHz WiFi with WPA/WPA2. Most home routers broadcast 2.4 GHz by default.

Fredo: add your device to your account

Power on the Fredo device and connect it to your 2.4 GHz WiFi (follow the setup screen of the device).
Connect your phone to the same WiFi and open the device's local address (e.g. http://fingerbot-xxxx.local). Sign in with your PIN.
Go to Settings › Register on portal and copy the Device ID and Pairing code (32 letters and numbers).
On Fredo tap Add device, give it a name (e.g. Office PC), paste the ID and code and save.
The device comes online in about 20 seconds. Tap Press to test.

Each device can be linked to one account only. A factory reset changes the pairing code.

Question 8

Fredo: schedule automatic button presses

Open Schedules › New schedule.
Give it a name (e.g. Turn on PC), choose the device or a group, the time and the days.
Save. The press runs when the device checks in during that minute (server time zone is shown on the page).

Pause or resume a schedule any time. If the device is offline for that whole minute the press is skipped. Up to 20 schedules per device.

Fredo: press many devices at once (groups)

Open Groups › New group, name it (e.g. All office PCs) and tick the devices.
Tap Press all — each device receives the command on its next check-in (about every 20 seconds) and the page shows the progress.
Groups can also be scheduled or pressed from the API with group_id.

Devices do not need to be on the same WiFi.

Question 10

Fredo developer API (Home Assistant, scripts)

Open Developer API and tap Generate API key (give it a name, e.g. Home Assistant).
Send a POST request to the endpoint shown with Authorization: Bearer <key> and your device_id (or group_id).
A 202 reply means the press is queued; the device runs it on its next check-in (about 20 s). Commands expire after 2 minutes.

Limits: 60 requests per minute. Revoke a key any time.
